La Crescent Rotary will again provide volunteer bartenders for Oktoberfest. Our shift is Thursday, September 24 from 3:30-8:00 p.m. That's the same day and timeframe as the Torchlight Parade and Craft Beer Night, so the crowd is very manageable. We need to provide 20 volunteers. If you can't do the whole shift, sign up and come when you can. It's always a fun time and family and friends are welcome to participate. In exchange for our efforts, the club receives a nice contribution from Oktoberfest as well as all tips generated by our service, which are substantial!

SEMCAC provides meals for senior citizens Monday through Friday of each week through their Senior Dining Program. Volunteers provide the delivery of the meals which are prepared and packaged at the La Crescent Community Building. SEMCAC has contacted our club with a request for help with Thursday deliveries. This would start on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, and continue indefinitely every Thursday. Times for the deliveries are from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Delivery volunteers pick up the meals and route information at the back door of the La Crescent Community Building located at 336 S. 1st Street. There are roughly 6 - 8 people who receive meals on each route. It generally takes no more than 25 - 40 minutes to complete a route. Please consider signing up for a few delivery times. Rotarians across our region are gearing up for something big - the World’s Largest Polio Walk on October 24 and Valley View Rotary will be part of it! District 6250 will join Rotary districts across Region 36 – Rotary Zones 25B & 29. The effort will unite more than 36,620 Rotarians and 964 Rotaractors across 11 states and 2 countries in a powerful demonstration of Rotary’s commitment to a polio-free world. Rotary has been leading the global fight against polio for more than 35 years through its End Polio Now campaign. Thanks to Rotary and its global partners, polio cases have been reduced by more than 99.9%, but the fight continues until every child is protected.
