The Story of "Fore Pete’s Sake"
A Legacy of Service and Smiles The "Fore Pete’s Sake" Golf Outing is more than just a day on the greens; it is a tribute to the late Pete Congdon, a man whose life was defined by his commitment to others and his infectious positive attitude. Pete served as the President of the La Crescent Rotary from 2014 to 2015, a time during which he championed the club's mission to be "impactful both in La Crescent and internationally".
Pete’s Spirit Known for his humor and resilience, Pete faced significant health challenges with the same grace he brought to his leadership roles. Even while battling brain tumors, he remained an active and high-spirited member of the community, planning for events like Oktoberfest and sharing his excitement for life with everyone he met. He was a man who believed that "every meal was the best meal" and that every stranger was just a friend he hadn't met yet. Pete passed on in 2023, but his passion and energy lives in all who knew him.
Why We Play Established through a partnership between the La Crescent Rotary and the Congdon Family, this tournament carries forward Pete’s "story of why".
For Participants: It’s an opportunity to honor a beloved community member while enjoying a game Pete loved—the same game where he once celebrated a hole-in-one at Pine Creek Golf Course.
